The book "Gödel, Escher, Bach: An Eternal Golden Braid" by Douglas Hofstadter inspired both the kurals.

பொய்யா மொழி is a variant of the liar paradox: "The following sentence is false. The preceding sentence is true."

நாவிதர் கலகம் is the barber paradox: "The barber shaves only those men in town who do not shave themselves. Who shaves the barber?"
